Year 2 are going to look at how different materials and or substances, when mixed together, can have a chemical reaction.
This task is related to the Year 2 Australian Curriculum - Science. In "Science Understanding - chemical sciences: different materials can be combined, including by mixing for a particular purpose (ACSSU031) - investigating the effects of mixing materials together."
Year 2 have previously looked at making predictions, investigating, recording and sharing their observations as they have participated in class science.
Prior to the bottle rocket experiment the children participated in a "volcano" experiment. Year 2 were able to observe a chemical reaction as two substances mixed together. This experiment will look at how vinegar and Bi-carb soda react with each other, producing a gas.
